The “Nature Destination in the East” tour will let you discover the treasures of eastern Madagascar. The east is especially known for its primary forest, rich in biodiversity, with a 90% endemism rate. This destination is highly popular among nature lovers, biologists, wildlife photographers, and enthusiasts eager to explore flora, fauna, and wildlife.
Eastern Madagascar is also renowned as a prime location for whale watching. Between July and September, humpback whales migrate north and pass near Île Sainte-Marie. Their acrobatic behavior and unique, intricate melodic songs offer unforgettable spectacles. During your stay on Sainte-Marie, you can go whale watching both from land and at sea via cruises around the island.

Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Ivato International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel we have carefully reserved for you.
Overnight at the hotel
Departure in the morning for the coast to reach Andasibe;
We take the RN2 national road leading to Andasibe National Park;
You will be amazed by the mosaics of unique vegetation in eastern Madagascar;
On the program: visit to the butterfly farm, where we will admire species of butterflies, chameleons, and crocodiles;
Our journey will be adorned with forests. The roads will be mainly accompanied by the sounds of birds nesting in the nearby forests;
Arrival in Andasibe and check-in at the hotel;
In the afternoon, we will visit the Vakona Reserve as well as the magnificent Lemur Island;
Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we begin the visit to the park, a true treasure of nature, home to the Indri-Indri species, one of the rarest primates in the world, found only in Madagascar. The park is a genuine nature reserve sheltering fauna and flora of various unique species on the island. Encounters with mammals of all kinds, 117 bird species, and 51 reptile species;
You will also find bats roaming within this surprising natural environment. Andasibe-Mantadia National Park contains a large number of orchid species with high endemism;
The park’s landscape offers breathtaking panoramic views, immersing visitors in lush natural forests;
For those wishing to meet Madagascar’s lemurs, Andasibe National Park is the ideal spot. It will be one of your most memorable experiences to take photos with these iconic species that make the Red Island exceptional;

In the late afternoon, we will go on a night walk to encounter the famous Mouse Lemur, the smallest lemur in Madagascar;

Early morning departure after breakfast to reach Manambato, one of the most enchanting tourist spots in the East, where good weather, the beach, and nature await. Along the way, enjoy the idyllic landscapes of Manambato, beautifully shaped by a unique forest reserve. We will arrive at Ankanin’ny Nofy, or the "Dream Nest," in the early afternoon.

We will go for a short visit to a private Palmarium Reserve, home to up to 100,000 endemic palm species of Madagascar. We will take a 2-hour walk within the reserve to admire other rare plant species in the Palmarium, including orchids, traveler’s trees, and Nepenthes, the carnivorous plant;
Encounters with lemurs are not left out. In the Palmarium, we will find a lemur colony including Indri Indris, Coronatus, and Sifaka;
Afternoon in the Palmarium Nature Sanctuary;
Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will embark on an unmissable 3 to 4-hour relaxing cruise along the Pangalanes Canal to reach the port and tourist city of Tamatave;
Lunch in Tamatave;
In the afternoon, departure to reach the seaside resort of Mahambo and check in at the hotel;
Overnight at the hotel.
We will leave Mahambo to reach the pier. Boarding for Sainte Marie, or Île Boraha, with the El Condor company. The sea crossing takes approximately 2 to 3 hours;

To give you ample time to explore Sainte Marie Island, this itinerary offers 4 days of relaxation by the sea.
During this time, you can take short historical excursions to visit pirate tombs and the island’s historical heritage sites, such as the Radama Islet Museum and the old fort located atop Ambodifotatra hill;
You can also take a short tour of Sainte Marie’s archipelago islands;
Several activities are available, such as diving to explore the underwater treasures of Île Boraha, excursions to Île aux Nattes, whale watching or witnessing the famous mating displays of whales, mainly between July and October. Fishing enthusiasts can also enjoy fishing in Sainte Marie, as the waters around Île Boraha are naturally rich in fish;
Sainte Marie Island also offers wellness centers providing traditional treatments and massages using essential oils;

Transfer to Sainte-Marie Airport to return to Antananarivo;

In the half-day, we will embark on a historical and cultural discovery of the capital. We will visit the city center, which hosts nearly all the city’s monuments and historical statues reflecting its glorious past. We will go to the Blue Hill, home to a royal palace that is part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage;
Transfer to Ivato International Airport according to the schedule of your international flight.
